Course Aim:

The Safety Harness User course is aimed at those who while working at heights need to use a safety harness. Completing the course will give delegates the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to carry out a visual inspection of their harness and attachments and safely don the harness, doff it and store it correctly.

Course Objectives:

    At the end of the course, candidates will:

  • Understand the main aims of Health & Safety Legislation (H&SWO 1978 NI, Work at Height 2005 Regulations, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations, Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992 and Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1999 NI
  • Identify typical components of the safety harness
  • Understand the importance of correct use and dangers of incorrect use
  • Carry out a visual and tactile inspection and storage
  • Understand SG4; The principles of Fall Prevention
  • Principles of Fall Arrest Harness and Attachments
  • Principles of Restraint Lanyards and Anchorage Points
  • Donning & Doffing Procedure
